This large mug, while being practical, still features the hallmarks of Akio's skilled craftmanship. The rim is highlited with bright yellow slip and parallel lines are carved down the length of the mug. The combination of indigo and black slips create a mottled and rustic surface. After bisque firing Akio applies colored slips and then glazes the pieces with translucent matte glaze. Beautiful to see and incredible to hold.
